Just Married: Jessica Scarlette Gonzmart and Andrew David Matheny
Bride’s parents: Casey Gonzmart and Mary Lynn Jourdet
Groom’s parents: Joseph Matheny and Loris Matheny
Jessica Scarlette Gonzmart and Andrew David Matheny are self-proclaimed geeks. They each have a love for computers and everything that they can achieve. In 2009, both of them decided to leave fate up to online dating. The chats between the couple became emails, which became texts and calls, which led to a meeting, and the rest is history.
The Proposal: The May 22, 2011, proposal came as a total surprise to Jessica. It began with a family scavenger hunt and ended up with Jessica opening the front door to find Andrew on one knee. The whole family was in on the surprise.
The Wedding: Jessica and Andrew were married April 27, at The John and Mable Ringling Museum. The couple’s friend Renee Causey officiated the ceremony. The reception, catered by Jessica’s family restaurant, The Columbia, followed in the courtyard. Guests enjoyed a double rainbow (without the rain) just as the couple said “I do.”
The Honeymoon: The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Santorini, Greece, and Paris. The couple’s favorite stop was celebrating Greek Orthodox Easter in Santorini and seeing the candle-lit streets that stretched all the way across the island.
Fun Fact: The cake was from Montilio’s Bakery, in Boston. Jessica’s aunt and uncle, George and Christine Montilio, own the bakery. The flowers were made in Boston, and the cake was constructed in Tampa before being driven to Sarasota. It tasted just how the couple wanted, like a big cannoli.
