It's hot. I mean really hot. The cool alluring waters of the Gulf of Mexico are calling, but is a little sun worth the risk of a complete saltwater hair frizz-out? Why not ditch the sun hat and follow this guide to controlling beach hair?

1.) If you have colored hair,  like 90% of us, one of your beach bag buddies is Paul Mitchell Color Locking Spray. This spray harnesses the power of sunflower extract for longer lasting color, and in so, doing it helps protect your hair color investment. Simply spray it all over before the salt water or chlorine gets in your hair.

2.) If you do not color your hair, but you still need the protection against the salt water or chlorine, Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist is just what you need to give thirsty hair and skin the moisture they crave. Yes, you can use this on your skin to help prevent peeling after your fun day on Siesta Key.

3.) Even if you are at a hotel and don't have these, grab the conditioner from your shower and rub it generously in your hair. If you fill your cuticles with conditioner or spray, it acts as a block to hold out the harsh pool chemicals or salt water and, yes, wear a big beach hat to block that sun damage.

4.) Surf Spray from Bumble and Bumble gives you that beachy texture, but with more control. Scrunch your hair and spray, even when you're still at the beach, for sexy, wild, cool wind style texture you get after an ocean swim, which always seems a shame to wash away.

5.) How do you keep that weekend beachy look come Monday? Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo and Cream Rinse for buoyant body and soft seas breezy texture with a blend of minerals and sea botanicals.

Consider this a wash up on the shore'¦.
