Life in the fast lane
4:31 p.m. — 5600 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A 20-year-old man was riding his motorcycle at 70 mph to 80 mph and passing cars in the bicycle lane. Police gave him a ticket for careless driving. The man thanked police for not ticketing him for his other offenses.
Sept. 13
Rode rage
6:31 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and General Harris Street. Disturbance. A Verizon employee said he was driving slowly because he was trying to find a service station, when the driver of a white truck passed him, blew his horn and cut him off in traffic. The employee said the man then got out of his truck, yelled something and hit his fist on the hood of the van. The worker photographed the driver and his vehicle. Police spoke with the truck’s owner, who said the employee was driving 15 mph to 20 mph and made an obscene hand gesture when he passed him. The man also photographed the Verizon employee but denied hitting his fist on the van.
Sept. 14
Beat the heat
7:08 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Traffic. A man’s car overheated while he drove down Gulf of Mexico Drive. He was waiting for the car to cool down and had extra fluid with him to fill up the radiator.
Pool patrol
6:26 p.m. — 2100 block of GMD. Trespassing. An owner reported trespassers at his condo’s swimming pool. Police couldn’t locate the suspects.
Sept. 15
Be our guests
3:55 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Disturbance. A woman complained that several people on a property weren’t owners or guests. Members of the group were related to owners and were having a birthday party. Police warned them about the town’s noise ordinance.
Sept. 16
Catch their drift
10:01 a.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Dream Island Road. Reckless Driving. A motorist reported that a white van with the word “electric” on it was drifting off the road and into the bicycle lane. The man driving the van said he was an electrician and kept looking for the street where he was supposed to turn. Police told him to be more careful.
Spring to action
2:02 p.m. — 6200 block of GMD. Dumping. An unknown person dumped mattresses and box springs that weren’t usable at a church’s thrift store after Sunday services. The office manager asked for closer patrol of church grounds to prevent illegal dumping.
