APRIL FOOLS — Members of the Longboat Key swan family are finalists in a nationwide contest sponsored by Swanson to appear on the company’s frozen dinner boxes.

The “Swan Song” contest will feature “American Idol”-style voting in which the public will choose its favorite swans. The spokesman said the winner could join the ranks of famed avian mascots such as the Aflac Duck and Chick-Fil-A chickens.
