  • Sarasota Film Festival Opening Night Film/Party — takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Van Wezel. Party follows film at 9 p.m. The Film Festival kicks off with Rory Kennedy's film "Last Days in Vietnam." Film costs $25 to $55. Party costs $95.
  • SRQ Cigars Spring Clean — takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Srq Cigars, 2815 N. Tamiami Trail. Learn about cigars, watch a hand rolling demo and cigar specials at this event while enjoying beer and wine selections. Free.
  • (the) Umbrella Cult Farewell Show — takes place at 9 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Cock and Bull Pub. Send (the) Umbrella Cult off in style at their farewell show with Roadkill Ghost Choir and Moonshutters. Read more about the band here. $5 cover.
  • Ringling vs. New College Spring Flag Football Championship — Takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at New College. Watch our local brainiacs and artists square off in this recurring flag football series, featuring face painting, water activities, pool party, slip-n-slide, water balloon battle at half time, presidents' wager and more. All proceeds directly benefit the Visible Men Academy. Student admission is canned food. All others $10, including food and drink.
