Tennis teams earn honors

The Braden River and Lakewood Ranch High boys and girls tennis teams hit the court for the Class 3A-District 10 tournament April 1 and April 2, at Treasure Island Golf and Tennis Club.

Braden River’s Larissa LaBolt was the only area player to win an individual championship. She beat Venice’s Laura Dempsey to win the No. 5 singles title.

Lakewood Ranch junior Ashley Bongart lost a close match to Largo’s Alexis Franco to finish as the No. 1 singles district runner-up.

Lakewood Ranch’s Titus Strom and Jacques Swanepoel finished as the No. 1 doubles district runner-up. Strom also finished as the district runner-up at No. 1 singles, and Taylor Beliveau was the district runner-up at No. 4 singles.

The Lakewood boys finished third overall, while the Braden River girls placed fourth overall.
