Beachplace resident Margaret Farkas doesn’t know the name of the young man who came to the rescue of her friend after a rip tide pulled him out into the Gulf.

A current was pulling Farkas’ friend (who wishes to remain anonymous) further and further into the Gulf Sunday afternoon. Farkas and another friend approached the young man on the beach for help. He handed them his glasses and iPod before dashing into the Gulf and bringing the man to safety.

“We want to thank the young gentleman who responded so quickly and helped to pull my friend out of the Gulf,” Farkas said. “In the excitement of the moment, we got a chair for him to sit on, and we thanked him profusely, but we didn’t think to ask him for his name.”
