TideWell Hospice honored veteran and longtime Sarasota resident Kenny Barr Thursday, April 10.

Barr received the TideWell Honors pin for his service in the United States Air Force. Barr, the former owner of Sports Page Bar & Grill, served in the Vietnam War from January 1963 to January 1969.

A small group of close friends and family, including Barr’s mother Edith, attended the ceremony at Marina Tower Condo.

“It’s fantastic,” says Edith Barr. “A real surprise.”

Veterans Tom Smith, Ted Smith and Chip Harris presented Barr with a pin of honor and a plaque.

“It’s a special time in someone’s life to be appreciated for their time in service,” says Marine Corps veteran Tom Smith.

“I like the idea,” says Mr. Barr who was humbled by the recognition. “It’s really great.”
