Sarasota Film Festival: Cinema Tropicale

Sarasota Film Festival’s island-themed event, “Cinema Tropicale,” was nothing short of exciting. Held Friday, April 11, at Sarasota Yacht Club, the event featured high-end cuisine and cocktails, a fashion show atop the swimming pool, a DJ spinning great sounds throughout the evening (and a live reggae band on the other side of the venue), all while guests enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with the filmmakers and visiting artists of the festival. Florida Winefest and Auction Grand Tasting, Bunch and Charity Auction

Sarasota Film Festival was not the only festival going on this weekend in Sarasota. The Florida Winefest and Auction was in town as well, providing exciting day events for Sarasota residents to enjoy.

The Grand Tasting, Brunch and Charity Auction was held Saturday, April 12, on the bayfront grounds of Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, where guests enjoyed sampling fine wines and foods on Sarasota Bay. Click here for more photos. 

Greenfield Prize Award Dinner

To celebrate the 2014 winner of the Greenfield Prize Award, Hermitage Artist Retreat held its annual Greenfield Prize Award Dinner Saturday, April 12, at Michael’s On East. Playwright Nilo Cruz was the recipient of this year’s award, and Olympia Dukakis spoke at the event. She discussed the importance of writing new films and works. Click here for more photos.
