ODA Lacrosse
The Out-of-Door Academy boys and girls lacrosse teams both defeated Fort Myers Canterbury School April 9.

Jeremy Herrin scored six goals to lead the Thunder to a 12-5 victory. Christian Nold scored five goals. Aidan Dowdy recorded 18 saves.

On the girls side, Kimmy Comito scored six goals and had four assists to power ODA to a 15-12 victory. Taylor Albano added four goals. Abby Lagasse had one goal and two assists. Tess Siciliano, Lexi Myers and Lexi Murphy each added a goal. Abby Bannar recorded 12 saves.

ODA closed out its season with an 18-7 victory against Berkeley Prep April 10.

Comito scored five goals and added three assists to lead the way for the Lady Thunder. Adelaide Mahler had five goals, and Siciliano added four goals. Albano had two goals and two assists. Myers had a goal, and Lagasse had an assist. Bannar had 10 saves.

+ Mustangs to hold free clinics
Lakewood Ranch High School will hold free weekly basketball clinics in May.

The clinics will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. May 4, May 11 and May 18, at the Lakewood Ranch High School gymnasium. Clinics are open to children in fourth through seventh grades. Only 50 children will be able to participate per session. Walk-ins are welcome.

+ Lakewood to tee off in Champ Scramble
The Lakewood Ranch High boys golf team will hold its third annual Bob Boast State Champions Scramble May 18, at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club’s Royal Lakes Course.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $400 and includes greens and cart fees, buffet dinner, longest-drive contest, par 3 contest, putting contest, tee gifts and more. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lakewood boys golf team, which won its third-consecutive state championship in November.

+ Lakewood alum sails to victory
Roger Williams University junior Wendy Reuss made school history by winning the New England Team Race Championship April 6, at the Fowle Trophy Regatta on the Thames River.

The regatta served as a qualifier for the New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association with the top-four finishers advancing to the Collegiate Team Race Nationals at the end of May.

Reuss, a 2011 Lakewood Ranch graduate, and her skipper, Dylan Vogel, were named the NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week for leading Roger Williams to victory in the two-day event, which featured 12 colleges and universities across the Northeast.

The Hawks finished 13-3 and beat Yale, which is ranked No. 1, during the final race to earn the victory. Roger Williams is ranked No. 5 in the nation in college sailing.

+ Golfers prepare for Concession Cup
The Concession Golf Club will host the Concession Cup April 29 through May 3.

The competition between the U.S. and its Great Britain and Ireland counterparts will be conducted through the traditional team match-play formats of foursome, fourball and singles. Each team will have 18 players separated into three categories: mid-amateur members (ages 25 to 54), senior amateurs (55 to 65) and super senior amateurs (65 and older).

Honorary team captains for The Concession Club will be Jack Nicklaus (U.S.) and Tony Jacklin (G.B. and I). Team captains are Vinny Giles (U.S.) and Garth McGimpsey (G.B. and I). Paul Azinger will serve as the honorary chairman.

The Concession Cup is free and open to the general public. It will benefit three charities.
