+ Author visits East County school
Students at Braden River Middle School learned about writing novels firsthand April 7, during a visit from novelist Lynda Mullaly Hunt.

Hunt’s novel, “One for the Murphy’s” was chosen as a Sunshine State Young Reader selection for sixth- through eighth-grade students.

The novel is the story of a young girl who lives with a foster family after she and her mother were physically attacked by her stepfather. Five sixth-grade classes at Braden River read the novel as part of their shared reading time.

During the workshop, Hunt shared stories of her childhood, inspiring messages and advice for becoming a better writer.

Hunt is a former school teacher.
