Lakewood Ranch High Track and Field
The Lakewood Ranch High girls track team scored 177 points to win the Class 3A-District 10 meet April 16, in Clearwater.

The Lakewood boys team finished second with 87.50 points.

Lakewood crowned a combined nine individual and relay district champions. Junior Talia Falco was a triple winner, winning the 100-meter hurdles (15.58 seconds), high jump (5 feet, 4 inches) and triple jump (36-06).

Other district champions include:
• Brandon Luckett (100, 10.97)
• Couper Braun (110 hurdles, 16.30)
• Sophia Falco (long jump, 17-00)
• Girls 4x100 relay
• Girls 4x400 relay
• Boys 4x800 relay


+ ODA crowns state tennis champs
The Out-of-Door Academy’s Maria Ross and Mary Ann Rompf both captured state tennis titles at the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A championship.

Ross, who was the No. 1 seed in the individual state tournament, defeated Westminster Academy’s Courtney Meredith 6-2, 6-3 to win the individual singles title April 17. She became the first ODA tennis player since Caroline Dailey to win a singles state title.

Ross then teamed up with Rompf to win the doubles state championship. Ross and Rompf, who were the No. 1 seed, defeated Oxbridge Academy’s Rachel Bercovitch and Sophia Chavarria 6-2, 6-1.

As the individual state champions, Ross and Rompf advanced to the overall state championship April 18.
Ross defeated Ransom Everglades’ Allegra Hanlon 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 to win the overall singles title. She and Rompf then defeated Hanlon and Daniela Lopez 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 to win the overall doubles title.

+ Lady Thunder wins district crown
The Out-of-Door Academy girls lacrosse team defeated St. Stephen’s 10-5 to win the District 16 championship April 17.

Lexi Myers scored three goals to lead the way for the Lady Thunder. Kimmy Comito added two goals and three assists. Tess Siciliano had two goals. Taylor Albano had two goals and two assists. Adelaide Mahler added a goal. Abby Banner recorded 11 saves.

+ Rosedale to hold junior golf program
Rosedale Golf & Country Club will host a junior golf program beginning June 14.

The program, which will run for nine consecutive Saturdays, is open to all students ages 5 to 18. Sessions will be held at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Each session is limited to 16 students at a cost of $200 per child.

Additional junior programs include a 10 a.m. Wednesday golf clinic for $20 per session and a 10 a.m. Friday Play with the Pro program for $40 per session.

+ LECOM organizes annual golf tourney
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine will hold its annual Student Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament May 28, at Stoneybrook Golf Club in Heritage Harbour.

Cost for the four-person scramble, which will tee off at 1 p.m., is $400 per foursome and includes green and cart fees, boxed lunch, buffet dinner and prizes and awards.

Tee signs also are available for $100. Sponsorships ranging from $600 to $1,000 also are available.

All proceeds will go toward scholarships for LECOM’s medical, dental and pharmacy students.
