April 21
Hungry horses
9:57 a.m. — 31000 block of Singletary Road. Information Only. An animal-control officer was out on assignment checking on some dogs when he saw three horses he thought were malnourished. A deputy also arrived on scene. The deputy saw no grass or hay for the horses to eat. The owner of the horses said she had just run out of hay and planned to buy more.
Water works
2:55 p.m. — 7900 block of Royal Birkdale Circle. Information Only. A man says his neighbor’s construction contractor is damaging sprinklers on his property. The neighbor agreed to have the sprinklers fixed when the job was completed.
Drive-thru drop
5:05 p.m. — 600 block of 67th Street Circle E. Theft. A woman ordered dinner through the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant. The woman believes she may have dropped her wallet outside the drive-thru area. The following morning, she received an alert from her bank notifying her of fraudulent activity on her bank account. She later returned to the restaurant. An unknown person had turned in the wallet to restaurant management, however, the wallet was missing a debit card, driver’s license, three Social Security cards, three gift cards and $20 in cash.
April 22
Backpack blunder
1:21 p.m. — 6200 block of River Club Boulevard. Information Only. A male middle school student was seen at lunch with what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. The school’s principal located the student and brought him to the office. School officials contacted law enforcement. Upon arrival, a deputy determined the item in question was actually a BB gun. The school contacted the student’s mother, who removed the child from school. The student was suspended for 10 days. The student said he mistakenly took a backpack containing the BB gun to school that day. He has multiple backpacks, and he took the wrong one to school, he said.
April 22
payment plan
2:19 p.m. — 2900 block of 53rd Avenue E. Theft. A woman entered a department store, proceeded to the electronics section and selected a pair of headphones from a shelf. The woman left the store without paying for the $29.88 headphones. The woman said she did not purposely steal the headphones. She had planned to pay for them, but forgot.
April 23
Searching for gold
10:43 a.m. — 7400 block of Riviera Cove. Lost Property. A woman lost her $2,400 gold bracelet at an undetermined location in Manatee County between 8 p.m. April 17 and 3 p.m. April 18. The woman searched the two outlet malls at which she shopped during that time, but could not locate the bracelet.
