+ Mustangs coordinator named new head coach
Former Lakewood Ranch High offensive coordinator Mick Koczersut was officially named the Mustangs’ new head coach July 30.

Koczersut replaces Shawn Trent, who served as the Mustangs’ head coach for the last nine years.
Trent will remain the school’s athletic director.

Under the Manatee County School District’s new policy, athletic directors can no longer be head coaches.
Lakewood finished 5-5 last season. The Mustangs will kick off the 2014 regular season Aug. 29.
