SCOPE has announced Cathy Layton as its 2014 Boundary Crosser. Layton, chair of the Board of Trustees at Marie Selby Gardens, will be honored at the Sarasota County organization’s Annual Celebration September 25.

Layton was nominated by members of the community along with the committee of citizens and former Boundary Crossers.

She is being recognized for her years of creating positive change in the community, such as her involvement with the completion of the Children’s Rainforest Garden at Selby Gardens.

“The Annual Celebration brings the community together each year to honor a Boundary Crosser – that individual who has connected people across lines that traditionally divide community,” said John McCarthy, SCOPE executive director. “We’re pleased to be honoring Cathy Layton.”

SCOPE’s Annual Celebration will be on Thursday, Sept. 25, at Michael’s On East. For more information, go to scopexcel.org.
