Today is the primary election for local and state candidates.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check your voter registration card to see which polling location is in your precinct, and don’t forget a photo ID. You can look up a polling location in Sarasota County online at sarasotavotes.com.

The early-voting total for Sarasota County residents as of Friday was 6,202. Sarasota currently has 274,978 registered voters. Forty-two percent of voters are registered as Republican, and 30% are registered as Democrat.

According to the Manatee County voter website, there were 210,334 registered voters as of July 2 — 42% were Republicans and 31% were Democrats. To look up a polling location in Manatee County, visit votemanatee.com.
