It's back. For the second time since the event's inception, Sarasota guitarists from all genres and levels of notoriety will step out of the jam room and onto the stage for Night of the Axes II — the biggest shred session in the SRQ. Dozens of the area's finest players will perform three hours of completely improvised music.

Organized by Chris Flannagan and fellow members of his band, Hail Dale, the event will take place this Saturday, Aug. 30, at The Whiskey Barrel in Gulf Gate and will feature drums, bass, keyboards and, of course, plenty of guitars. By hosting the event in Gulf Gate, Flannagan says he hopes to help revitalize the music scene in one of his favorite bar districts in town.

Confirmed musicians include:

Chris Flannagan: guitar/bass - Hail Dale
Garrett Von Räd: guitar/bass - Hail Dale
David Cornicelli: drums/bass - Hail Dale
Justin Kaiser: guitar - Go Man
Toby Norton: guitar - Tosspot / Fancy Rat
Tim Moone: drums - Go Man / Buffalo Wizards
Josh Scheible: guitar/bass - Buffalo Wizards / Physical Plant
Morgan Soltes: bass - Sons of Hippies
David Daly: guitar - Sons of Hippies
Joe Seul: synth/guitar - RaeF
Dave Baker: bass - Physical Plant
