Kids visiting Longboat Key can now have fun without their parents fretting about the impact they make on the environment.
A new playground was installed this month at Joan M. Durante Park, 5550 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
The playground, made for children ages two to 12, is sustainable and made of recycled materials, including milk jugs and other plastic containers and plastic bags.
Although the playground is made from post-consumer plastic products, it has the look and feel of wood.
The playground is expected to last a minimum of 50 years due to its material’s lack of deterioration from the sun and lack of rotting, splitting and splinters.
