Closures scheduled for Christmas, New Year's

In observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays, facilities in both Sarasota County and the city of Sarasota will be closed over the next 10 days.

Sarasota County government offices will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1. The closure also applies to county libraries and recreation centers, including the Arlington Pool and Payne Park. Sarasota County Area Transit bus service will not operate on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1, though buses will be running on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

In the city, administration offices will close Dec. 24 and reopen Dec. 29, closing again on Jan. 1. Lido Pool and the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Bobby Jones Golf Club will be open on Christmas, with tee times for 9-hole play offered until 11 a.m.

Garbage collection will be impacted in both the county and city. No trash collection will take place on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1; trash pickup scheduled for Thursday and Friday of both weeks will take place one day later.
