A shooting at Kay’s Lounge in North Sarasota resulted in two deaths early Sunday morning.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at 1:20 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 21, at Kay’s Lounge in Scott’s Plaza, located about 500 feet north of the intersection of North Washington Boulevard and Myrtle Street.

Deputies found three men with gunshot wounds inside the bar. They were airlifted to Blake Medical Center. Another victim, Takila Hayes, 26, drove to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for gunshot-related wound treatment.

Two of the male victims, Todd L. Thompson, 24, of Bradenton, and Vincent E. Dipina, 26, of Sarasota, were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office connected the Kay’s Lounge shooting with another incident reported only 20 minutes before on Sunday morning.

Sarasota Police Department officers saw a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on Washington Boulevard at around 1:00 a.m. Sunday. Officers stopped the vehicle; the driver and only occupant had gunfire wounds. The man, whose name has not been released, was also flown to Blake Medical Center.

Both incidents are still under investigation.
