Dec. 11
Get a move on

7:42 a.m. — 200 block of North Shore Road. Parking. A man was having cabinets delivered to his home, but a crew member working on the north-end groin project told the delivery driver he could not park on the side of the road. Police had the driver move off the paved portion of the road and told the project leader the driver was almost finished and would leave soon.

Turn of events
8:13 a.m. — 500 block of Ketch Lane. Suspicious Circumstance. Police responded to a report of two men arguing and discovered the men walking on Gulf of Mexico Drive. Both men are transients and said they missed their turn while trying to find Sarasota Sailing Squadron and were arguing over being lost. Police gave them a ride.

Boat burglary
8:34 a.m. — 2600 block of Harbourside Drive. Burglary. A Fire Rescue lieutenant reported that three pieces of equipment were stolen from the department’s boat.

Collision course
12:49 p.m. — 2550 block of Harbourside Drive. Rescue. A woman was struck by a female bicyclist while jogging on the sidewalk. The bicyclist stopped to make sure she was OK before continuing on her ride. The woman called after her calf became soar but refused rescue services.

Living on the edge
1:21 p.m. — 60 block of Lighthouse Point Drive. Civil Disturbance. A man reported that another man who was fishing from the water’s edge could be trespassing. The fisherman said he was walking along the high water mark and knows he cannot walk on private property.

Sounds secure
11:23 p.m. — 3100 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. Police found the back door of a real estate office unlocked and activated the alarm while locking the door.

Dec. 12
True story

7:14 a.m. — 5700 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. A property manager reported that a man dressed in all black was wandering around the community, possibly looking inside vehicles, and entered the condo’s lobby. The man said he was going to see his ex-wife, but she was not dressed yet and told him to take her car for a drive, but he was tired and did not want to drive far, so he drove to the community across the street. He entered the lobby because he had to use the bathroom and got the button of his sweater caught on a car door as he was passing, which was why he was standing next to a vehicle. The man’s ex-wife corroborated the story.

Letter of the law
3:57 p.m. — 500 block of Schooner Lane. Code Enforcement. Police gave a written warning to a man who was selling books. The man said he believed he could try to make a sale unless there were “no soliciting” signs at a residence.

Point of contact
6:37 p.m. — 500 block of Yardarm Lane. Suspicious Person. A man who was selling magazine subscriptions said he lost all contact information for his employer when police asked him for his supervisor’s phone number. The man asked police to take him to a phone so he could call his family but refused to use the officer’s cellphone. Police transported the man to St. Armands Circle and gave him a written warning.

Stolen silver
7:38 p.m. — 2200 block of Harbour Court Drive. Larceny. A woman returned to her home where she hadn’t stayed since April and discovered $4,000 worth of sterling silver flatware missing. She thinks her friend might have taken the items and needed a police report for an insurance claim.
