Obituary: Robert Tucker

Robert Tucker, 78, of Durham, N.C., and formerly of Longboat Key and Pittsburgh, died Dec. 13.

Mr. Tucker began his legal career in 1961 as assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He then served in the Pennsylvania judiciary as a district justice for three decades. After retiring from elected office, he continued to serve in the judiciary as an Allegheny County Night Court judge until his move to Florida.

Mr. Tucker will be remembered for his dedication to the many volunteer organizations for which he assumed positions of leadership, including B’nai B’rith, Kiwanis and the Salvation Army.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline Green Tucker; children Jon Tucker, of Nevillewood, Pa., James Tucker, of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Amy Sloane, of Owings Mills, Md.; eight grandchildren; and siblings Murray Tucker, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Lynne Levenbach, of Walled Lake, Mich.

A private memorial service will be held Dec. 30.
