Carol and Jules Green met at a summer camp where Carol was a junior counselor and Jules was a waiter. He helped her move her suitcases into her bunk, and the two hit it off right away. Through three children and Carol’s recent heart surgery, the duo has remained a solid team.

The couple will celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary Dec. 27 with friends and family at an intimate brunch. Carol advises young couples to keep the lines of communication open.

“The secret to our successful marriage is that we talk a lot and we usually come to some kind of agreement,” she says.
