Building off of last year’s successes, which included state championships, perfect records and remarkable comebacks, East County athletes made headlines in 2014, putting together yet another eventful and successful year filled with historic moments and monumental milestones.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve celebrated district, regional and individual state championships. We’ve watched our talented athletes and teams make school history, overcome adversity and rely on underclassmen to step up to the plate.

As another year comes to a close, we at the East County Observer once again celebrate your accomplishments with our 2014: Year in Sports. Here you will find some of the East County’s Top Moments and Top Teams over the past year along with a selection of photos highlighting some of our favorite moments from the spring, fall and winter seasons.

Our top teams might not have all won state titles, but they all embody the spirit of the game, and for that we offer our support and congratulations on your success and accomplishments this year.

With so many talented athletes of all ages, it was an honor to be a part of the East County sports community in 2014, and we look forward to seeing what 2015 has in store.

We wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday season, and we look forward to seeing all of you in the weeks to come as we embark on another monumental year.
