After advancing through two rounds of competition during the Feb. 5 airing of "American Idol," Sam Woolf heads closer to the chance to compete in front of a live audience later this month.

As the Braden River High senior sings and plays his guitar to renditions of songs, such as Ed Sheeran's "Lego House," he hopes to  continue on his journey through the Hollywood rounds of the competition, which commence Feb. 12.

The panel of celebrity judges — Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. — will pick the top 30 to move forward to the final stretch of the competition.

To see how far the East County student will go, tune in to FOX each week.
