This weekend, Sarasota will celebrate Earth Day early at the 2014 World Wellness EcoFest Saturday, Feb. 8. The festival’s mission is to create awareness for living healthy and to teach the community the importance of a healthy planet.

EcoFest was first held in 2009 and has grown to include more than 100 vendors from the area. The festival includes an all-day concert and a body stage where dance, yoga and tai chi demonstrations will be held.

There will be information booths, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, organic produce and more.

The festival is pet-friendly and invites attendees help their furry friends stay fit with an agility course.

This free event will be held in downtown Sarasota on Main Street and in Five Points Park. Although Pineapple Avenue will remain open on Saturday, there will be road closures.

Main Street from Pineapple Avenue to Orange Avenue, Central Avenue between Five Points and First Street and First Street along Selby Library will be closed all day Saturday.
