Obituary: Barbara Jean Swartz

Barbara Jean Swartz, 82, of Longboat Key, died Feb. 1.

Born Dec. 11, 1931, Mrs. Swartz was a former resident of Syracuse, N.Y.

She was the founder and president of the Quaker Sports Boosters and was responsible for the sports programs of Orchard Park High School in the late 1970s.

Mrs. Swartz is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack; sons, John, James and Jeffrey Swartz; daughter, Jennifer Herreid; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local hospice. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
