Nick Striglos, 78, of Longboat Key and Decatur, Ill., died Feb. 10.
Born July 21, 1935, in DeKalb, Ill., Mr. Striglos graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in business administration. He married Patricia Joan Grant and, in 1960, the couple moved to Decatur and founded a typewriter sales and repair business.
Mr. Striglos was a member of the Decatur City Council and a Macon County commissioner. He was elected as a delegate to the Republican National Convention for 1992 in Houston and 1996 in San Diego. Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar appointed Mr. Striglos to lend his expertise to the Illinois Housing Development Authority, through which he advocated for affordable, low-income housing for the citizens of Illinois.
Mr. Striglos was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; sisters Helen and Beatrice; and brother, Constantine.
Mr. Striglos is survived by his son, Scott, of Decatur; daughters Jamie, of Decatur, and Patricia, of London; eight grandchildren; four cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macon County Conservation District Foundation in Decatur.
