Lady Sailors fall in state semifinal

The Sarasota High girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 47-36 loss to Harmony in the FHSAA Class 7A state semifinals Feb. 20, at the Lakeland Center.

Harmony scored the first eight points of the game before Sarasota rallied back to tie the game at 17-17 on senior Shelby Miller’s 3-pointer with 5:04 to play in the second quarter.

Trailing 28-20 at halftime, the Lady Sailors cut Harmony’s lead to 37-34 on Zharia Grable’s 3-pointer with 3:19 to play in the fourth quarter. Harmony responded with a three-point play of its own to held secure the victory.

Grable and Camille Giardina each had 10 points to lead the way for Sarasota. Miller, who played her final game in a Sarasota uniform, added seven points.
