Sarasota Christian falls in title game

The Sarasota Christian girls basketball team fell to Grandview Prep 45-32 in the FHSAA Class 2A state championship Feb. 20, at the Lakeland Center.

Heidi Miller, who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, finished with 13 points to lead the way for the Lady Blazers. Megan Garriott added nine points. Sarasota Christian finished the season 23-8.

Neydja Petithomme, who is headed to Auburn, scored 20 points to lead the way for Grandview Prep. Vionise Pierre-Louis, who is headed to Oklahoma, had to be helped off the court at the beginning of the second quarter after injuring her knee while going up for a rebound.
