WEEKEND BEST BET: Sarasota Jazz Festival

Enjoy free jazz in the park at the 34th annual Sarasota Jazz Festival’s kickoff concert Sunday, Feb. 23.

The festival, which runs until Saturday, March 1, invites families to get comfortable with blankets or chairs at its free opening jazz concert. Parking will also be free.

The Manatee High School Jazz Band will begin playing at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the Jeremy Carter Jazz Quartet at 2: 30 p.m.
