Hillcroft defeats Villages 12-10

Hillcroft defeated The Villages 12-10 in the 12-goal Suncoast Porsche Cup Feb. 23 at the Sarasota Polo Club.

Hillcroft took an early 3-0 lead in the first chukker and maintained a four-goal lead at halftime. The Villages pulled within two goals in the sixth chukker, but did not overcome its early deficit.

Robert Orthwein scored six goals to lead the way for Hillcroft. Stuart Campbell added four goals. Francisco Bilbao scored eight goals to lead the way for The Villages.

Jamie Mirikitani was named the Most Valuable Player. Bilbao received the Best Playing Pony Award for his mare Gretchen’s performance in the fourth chukker.

Teams return to action at 1 p.m. March 2 for the St. Stephen’s School Cup, which will feature a Little Sicily tailgate contest.
