The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce announced its next executive director Thursday. Debra Lynn-Schmitz, a native of Columbus, Ohio, will step in to the job on March 1, the chamber said in a statement.

The Chamber tapped Lynn-Schmitz for the post after former Executive Director Kevin Cooper stepped down last winter to take over as executive director for the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.

According to a Chamber statement, Lynn-Schmitz is a frequent visitor to Siesta Key and Sarasota County. She received her degree in business organization communication from the University of Akron, and continued her education at the University of Phoenix, obtaining a master’s degree in organizational management. She has worked with the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce for 27 years, the past 19 as the executive director/CEO.

Lynn-Schmitz will attend a March 7 networking luncheon at All Event Rentals to meet Siesta Key residents and business owners.
