Cardinal Mooney alumnus Eric Buchanan (Class of 2000) has cystic fibrosis and recently learned that he needs a double lung transplant.

The Sarasota native is hosting a meeting this month to discuss preperations for a golf tournament in May to raise money for his transplant.  Buchanan seeks help with organizing the golf tournament and ideas for smaller fundraising events.

Transplants of this nature can cost upwards of $800,000. People can donate money, time or services he says.

“It’s very humbling,” says Buchanan about the support he’s received from the Sarasota community. “I’m honored.”

Every dollar raised will go to the National Foundation for Transplants on Buchanan’s behalf and will support his surgery and post-surgery care.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School, 4171 Fruitville Road.
