Three Popcorns: Go see it
Four Popcorns: Standing ovation

"Lone Survivor"
Four Popcorns

Genre: Drama, Action/Adventure
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch, Taylor Kitsch, Eric Bana
Director: Peter Berg
Rating: R

Comment: Based on a true story of a blown Navy Seal mission in Afghanistan. Even if you know how it comes out from the book, you will be riveted. A major punch to the gut and it will grab your heart. Wahlberg hit it out of the park. Take a hankie and God bless our troops!

"August: Osage County"
Two Popcorns

Genre: Drama
Cast: Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Juliette Lewis, Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin
Director: John Wells
Rating: R

Comment: One of the biggest downers you will ever see. Streep was awesome as usual. So was Roberts,  but it's incredibly depressing. Over the top family dysfunction from a well-known play … but so what.

"Her"
Two Popcorns

Genre: Romance, Sci-Fi
Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, Chris Pratt, Olivia Wilde
Director: Spike Jones
Rating: R

Comment: A painfully slow and maudlin story line about an insecure, relationship-impaired man falling in love with his futuristic, artificial intelligence operating system. An Oscar nomination performance by Phoenix, but hard to watch.
