Key of Sea Chorus makes a pitch to music-lovers

Key of Sea Chorus’ roots date back to a choral workshop offered 15 years ago at the Longboat Key Education Center. A few of the founding members took the class, and, when it ended, they decided to keep singing for fun. In January 2001, the Key of Sea Chorus held its first meeting. The women continued to rehearse once a week, but still felt they could do more. So, they branched out into the community and sang each March at assisted-living facilities and retirement homes in the Sarasota area. The group wanted to bring pleasure to others by sharing their joy of singing.

“I love music and singing,” said Key of Sea member Judie Lutsky. “And I especially love singing with this fantastic group of women who also share in that love. The satisfaction we derive from the audience makes it all even better.”

Not a professional singer? No problem. None of the talented women involved is, either. The group’s members love to sing, and they’re best known for their performances of Broadway tunes and golden oldies.
