Jan. 10
BLOCK PARTY

11:25 a.m. — 1600 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Dispute/Fight. A woman reported a parking problem with her neighbor, with whom she shares a driveway. The woman said the neighbor’s friends park in front of her garage, preventing her from leaving. The neighbor said she tells her friends not to park there, but that she cannot monitor it all the time. Officers advised the two parties to try to work out any issues.

CUT TO THE QUICK
Noon — 700 block of South Brink Avenue. Trespassing. A woman said she was upset about kids using her backyard to cut between streets. She said that, as a result of their using her backyard as a shortcut, there is a patch of grass that is not growing as well as the rest of her yard. Officers told the woman that officers have to witness trespassing in person, but that they would monitor the situation.

Jan. 13
ROAD BLOCK

9 a.m. — 5200 block of Bradenton Road. Suspicion Person. A woman was reported to be lying in the street near University Parkway and Bradenton Road. The woman was found sitting on the ground at a nearby bus stop. The woman said she was just waiting for the bus to come to go to the store to buy cigarettes. She denied being in the street and said she stays off the street because she does not want a car to hit her.

WALK AWAY
11:04 a.m. — 1300 block of First Street. Juvenile Problem. A girl at a library told an employee she was going to walk to Orlando. The employee was suspicious because of the girl’s age and called the police. The girl said she was going to walk to Orlando because she was bored, and that although she did not have issues with her home life, she wanted to get away. The girl’s mother arrived at the library to take her home; the girl said she just wanted to skip school for the day.

STREET SLEEPER
12:01 p.m. — 2000 block of Main Street. Suspicion Person. A woman in black clothing was seen lying on the sidewalk on Main Street. The woman was told not to lie on the sidewalk. She was argumentative, but eventually complied.

PUBLIC AGGRAVATION
3:02 p.m. — 1100 block of Myrtle Street. Dispute/Fight. A man said an unknown male with long white hair was screaming at him at a bus stop. The yelling man left on a bus before officers arrived. They were unable to locate him.

BILL OF GOODS
9 p.m. — 4100 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicion General. A man approached an officer at a restaurant with a counterfeit $20 bill. The man said he found the bill while doing yard work for someone a few days ago, and that his mother said he should turn it in or else he would get in trouble for having it. The man said he planned to go to the police station, but he saw a patrol vehicle and decided to just turn it in to the officer. The counterfeit bill was smaller than a real bill.
