Community Cancer Support Group — meets from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Road. The group welcomes cancer patients, long-term survivors and caregivers. Call 383-8192.

Transitions Support Group — meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Road. The group is free and open to individuals in the community who are experiencing changes in their lives. Call 383-8161.

Diet Class — meets from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesdays through April 8, at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church, 40 N. Adams Drive, St. Armands. Cost is $25 and includes a book and workbook. Contact Tracey at 388-3764.

Shifting Sands Support Group — meets from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. The group provides an opportunity to discuss issues related to personal and/or health concerns; give and receive emotional, spiritual and practical support; and exchange information in a confidential setting. Bone Health Workshop — takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Longboat Island Chapel’s Aging in Paradise Resource Center, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Peter Simonson, president of Juvent, will discuss bones and how they affect overall health and well-being. Call Donna at 383-6493.

‘Exploring the Science Behind Traditional and Complementary/Alternative Medicine’ Class — takes place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Mondays from Feb. 3 through Feb. 24, at the Longboat Key Education Center, 5370 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Suite 212. Recently retired cardiology professor Dr. Donald Dembo will teach this four-session class. Cost is $75 for members; $85 for nonmembers. To register, call 383-8811 or visit lbkeducationcenter.org.

‘How to Use an AED, What to Do in an Emergency, Who to Call and When’ Seminar — takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Longboat Island Chapel’s Aging in Paradise Resource Center, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Longboat Key Fire Rescue Chief Paul Dezzi will present at this seminar and will have rescue and fire vehicles onsite for tours. Call Donna at 383-6493.

Blood Pressure Screenings
Screenings are offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. daily at Longboat Key Fire Rescue, 5490 Gulf of Mexico Drive. On occasion, personnel may not be available to provide the service if they are out on a fire/rescue call. Call 316-1944.
