1 - The Out-of-Door Academy alumnus Sekou Bangoura defeated No. 7 seed Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan 6-4, 6-2 to win the Men’s $10K Plantation Community Open, a USTA Pro-Circuit event, Jan. 12.

2 - Braden River High freshman shortstop Kinsey Goelz recently announced her verbal commitment to play softball for the University of South Florida.

3 - Mark Sulimirski and Filip Svoboda each scored a goal to propel The Out-of-Door Academy boys soccer team to a 2-0 victory against Dunbar Jan. 14.

4 - Michael Staikos had eight saves to lead the Cardinal Mooney High boys soccer team to a 4-0 victory against Sarasota Jan. 17.

5 - Cameron Darby scored 13 points and hauled in seven rebounds to help lead the Lakewood Ranch High boys basketball team to a 61-46 victory against Indian Rocks Christian in the Keith McCollom Shootout Jan. 18, at Seminole High.
