Jan. 17
HARD CRIME, SOFT DRINKS
10 p.m. — 2400 block of Leon Avenue. Burglary — Vehicle/Vessel. A woman reported that her vehicle was burglarized. The left rear-vent window of the car was already broken, and the woman said she thought the suspects gained entry by unlocking the door through the broken window. The suspects took a jacket, a watch and cases of soda.

Jan. 18
FARTHER THAN IT APPEARS
9 p.m. — 1800 block of North Tamiami Trail. Petit Theft/Outside of Vehicle. A man said an unknown person took the glass out of the right side-view mirror of his car. Officers said there was no physical evidence to collect, and that it appeared as if the suspect pried the mirror out of the holder and walked away.

HOOP NIGHTMARES
3:36 p.m. — 2800 block of Gillespie Avenue. Dispute/Fight. A main said his neighbor’s children were coming into his yard to get their basketball, and that he wanted the children to stay out of his yard. The man said he would move the basketball hoop on the sidewalk into his backyard to keep from having future issues. Police advised the children’s father to keep them out of the man’s yard.

TRASH CLASH
5:40 p.m. — 1800 block of 23rd Street. Dispute/Fight. A woman called officers and said her neighbors put their trash in the wrong place. The woman was upset that the neighbors put their trash can in front of her house, because it does not belong there.

Jan. 19
WHAT A LETDOWN
11 a.m. — 1200 block of North Palm Avenue. Criminal Mischief. A man said when he pulled into a parking space, he ran over some items. Another male confronted the man, upset the man ran over his supplies. The man said the other male appeared to be setting up a display at a nearby art gallery. The man then parked his car in the Palm Avenue parking garage. When he returned two hours later, he found the air had been let out of three of his tires. The man believed the male he argued with released the air.

Jan. 20
ROCK AND A HARD PLACE
11:47 a.m. — 2100 block of 20th Street. Civil Problem. A man said he was having a problem with the owner of a store that designs countertops and cabinets. The man dropped granite off at the store to be cut three months ago. When he returned to pick it up, the price was higher than he expected. The owner said the man was mistaken about the price, and that he had to sell a piece of granite to recoup some of his losses. The man said he would take the owner to court rather than pay for the granite.
