Recently, the fashion world has seen a major influence from the 1950s British pop-art era. Bold colors and geometric shapes and designs can be seen on every runway and in any fashion magazine this month. Even Lady Gaga’s new album is titled "Art Pop," and we all know how she likes to express her new looks.

Extreme hairdressing and fashion have actually taken these looks to an almost comic-book-like style. Using bright bold primary colors like red, blue and yellow creates a Dick Tracy look — a trend that's made a big impact on the hair world. The shapes and tones of hair are also getting an Andy Warhol influenced flair: Brighter colors, stronger shapes and bolder styling are all on trend right now.

If you're looking to change your look and these styles appeal to you, there are a few things you can do:

  1. Keep it classic: You can never go wrong with the classic cuts from Vidal Sassoon. Strong bobs, heavy fringe or short pixie cuts are timeless. These cuts can all be modified so that it complements your face shape, and of course, the cut should also express your own personal style.
  2. No strings attached: Not looking for a new cut? Play with your hair color to achieve that pop-art look. Simply brightening your color can do the trick. If you’re having doubts about bolder color, try a few highlights with the new color to see what works for you. We like to have a few tape-in or clip-in hair extensions on hand so our stylists can color them with fun, bright colors. This allows you the freedom to be extreme for sassy evenings, but leave the flaming-red hair out of the office.

Pop trends are for all ages and let people express themselves with a fun and creative pizzazz. In the words of Andy Warhol, "Art is anything you can get away with."
