+ All-Stars win district crown
The Manatee Cal Ripken Baseball 9U All-Stars won the District 10 championship June 19 through June 22, in New Tampa.

The team defeated North Tampa (15-1) and Lutz (12-2) before holding on to beat North Tampa 6-4 in the championship game.

With the championship, the team improves to 12-0 and will advance to the state tournament July 9 through July 13, at Heritage Harbour.

Championship players include: Ashton Lamb, Ryan Hanson, Ryan O’Sullivan, Drew Marra, Judson Hildreth, Mason McReynolds, Liam Senkow, Jaden Stockton, Mack Woolever, Ryan Combs, Tristan Schellinger and Stone Russell.

+ LWR Marauders to host tryouts
The 9U Lakewood Ranch Marauders travel baseball team seeks players for its upcoming season.

The Marauders won eight tournaments last season, including the STB state tournament (twice), Nations Winter Fest, the USSSA Mid-Florida Championship and the GSA Gold Bat Championship, among others.

The team also posted five second-place finishes.

Players interested in trying out for the team should contact John Schroeder at 565-6917.

+ Eight-year-old records first hole-in-one
Eight-year-old Alana Kutt used her 9-iron to record an ace on the 88-yard No. 16 of the Jack Nicklaus course at the Reunion Resort, in Orlando.

It was her first career hole-in-one.

Kutt went on to finish second in the Junior North Florida PGA Championship.

Kutt shot a 39 to finish as the runner-up by one stroke in the 7- and 8-year-old boys and girls division.
