Former Lady Mustang named to national team

Lakewood Ranch High graduate Huntyre Elling, who pitches for Indian River State College, was recently named to the National Juco Collegiate Athletic Association softball national team.

The team, which is made up of 16 student-athletes from 10 colleges, will be competing in the 20th Canadian Open Fastpitch International Competition July 15 through July 21, in Surrey, British Columbia.

Players selected to the team are all graduating sophomores and maintained at least a 2.5 grade-pointaverage. Elling was named to the FSCAA All-Southern Conference team in 2013 as a freshman.
