The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
July 8
Paint pawn
11:42 a.m. — 4300 block of 53rd Avenue E. Civil Dispute/Ownership. A man reported that a former subcontractor had allegedly retained painting equipment that he’d lent him. The complainant now alleges that the subcontractor had pawned the equipment because the subcontractor is disputing the payment owed to him. The location, time and items allegedly pawned are unknown. The complainant says he last saw his equipment at the subcontractor’s residence.
July 9
iPad theft
10:52 a.m. — Intersection of State Road 70 and Lockwood Ridge Road. Burglary to Convey—Larceny. The victim reported that an unknown person(s) allegedly stole his employer’s iPad from the vehicle parked at the location.
Eggs-acerbated
12:49 p.m. — 11700 block of Forest Park Circle. Criminal Mischief Misdemeanor $200 and Under. A woman reported unknown person(s) egged her home with about one dozen eggs. She resides in a gated community and will check with the security guards for possible available video footage. The woman said she cleaned off most of the egg herself. She hired a company to clean the home properly, as well. She estimated the damage to her home and lawn at $200.
Beer Bond
2:53 p.m. — 16000 block of State Road 64 E. Defraud Innkeeper Less than $300. The patron ordered two beers at the restaurant. He then went outside, got into his vehicle and attempted to leave the establishment without paying for the merchandise. The bartender and manager witnessed the incident. The deputy arrived and detained the patron. The suspect spontaneously uttered that he would have paid for the beers ($6) if he had the money. The deputy waited about 30 minutes for the suspect to locate any money, which yielded negative results. The deputy collected a sworn affidavit from the bartender and arrested the patron without incident.
Sneaky hands
6:19 p.m. — 2900 block of 53rd Avenue E. Theft between $300 and $5,000. The deputy arrived in reference to grand theft. After speaking with loss prevention, the deputy determined an employee had taken $340 from the cash drawer. The employee was charged with grand theft and taken to jail.
Trunk trouble
8:49 p.m. — 300 block of Cape Harbour Loop. Criminal Mischief Misdemeanor $200 and Under. A man reported unknown person(s) attempted to enter the trunk of his car. The trunk now is slightly misaligned, but not enough to file an insurance claim. A deputy dusted the trunk for prints, but did not find any.
July 10
Pavilion party
1:38 p.m. — 6600 Greenbrook Boulevard. Criminal Mischief Misdemeanor $200 and Under.The complainant reported unknown person(s) damaged property from one of the pavilion’s during the night. He stated a plug outlet cover had been removed and the siding of the wall was torn off. Damages are estimated at $200. The reporting party said video footage may be available at a later date.
Lemony snickets
1:53 p.m. — 8000 block of Conservatory Drive. Found Property. When arriving on a directed patrol of the location, the deputy observed what appeared to be three juvenile females fleeing the covered picnic area. They left behind two open bottles of Mike’s Hard Lemonade. The females fled on foot toward the east side of the park. They were not located, and it was too dark and the deputy was too far away to obtain a description of the subjects. The subjects left behind a turquoise backpack containing six unopened bottles of Mike’s Hard Lemonade. A Samsung smartphone was left on another picnic table. The deputy seized the items and placed them into evidence.
