July 4
Can I get a ride?

12:27 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Six individuals who were in a park after hours had all been drinking and were unable to drive. Police escorted them out of the park and told them to call for rides home.

Nothing to sea here
2:02 p.m. — Off the Key. Disturbance. An individual who asked to remain anonymous told police that an argument broke out among occupants of three boats on a sandbar. The occupants said there was no altercation.

The day the music died
2:21 p.m. — 3100 block of GMD. Noise. Police responded to a resort for a noise complaint. A large group had a karaoke machine set up by the pool. They stopped the music after police told them about the town’s noise ordinance.

July 5
Walking under the influence

3:24 a.m. — 600 block of Longboat Club Road. Suspicious Person. A caller reported two intoxicated men walking through a condo property. They said they went for a walk on the beach and got lost. A sober friend said he would take them back to their hotel room.

Explosive evidence
7:52 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Fireworks. A man found a plastic bag with dispelled fireworks inside plus two bottle rockets on his roof and two sparklers that he said could have caused his neighbor’s synthetic grass to catch fire. He believes the residents at a nearby home set off the fireworks.

Loud and clear message
11:23 p.m. — 4600 block of GMD. Noise. A hotel guest responded to a security officer’s request to turn down the radio by turning it up. When a manager asked them to turn it down, they used profanities. They turned down the radio after police walked through the property with staff.

July 6
Car sharks

12:39 a.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. Two men and a child who had illegally parked at a beach access told police they were looking for sharks from the seawall.

Beach babe
9:36 p.m. — 2800 block of GMD. Disturbance. A couple got into an argument because the wife wanted to stay at the beach.

July 7
Phone fraud

2:15 p.m. — 3500 block of Mistletoe Lane. Identity Theft. A woman’s bank notified her that she had overdrawn by $19,352.25. She checked her credit card and found that an unknown person had made four cash withdrawals totaling $5,800. The woman got several phone calls the prior week in which the phone rang once and stopped or she heard a dial tone when she answers. She believes her calls were forwarded to an unknown person who got her banking information by monitoring her calls.
