+ Lakewood Ranch Little League wins sectional title
The Lakewood Ranch Little League 10/11 All-Stars captured the Section 4 championship July 11 and July 12, in Brandon.
Lakewood Ranch went 3-0, defeating Land O’Lakes (16-3), South Brandon (15-1) and Lake Wales (8-0).
The team now advances to the State of Florida Tournament July 18 through July 20, at Lakewood Ranch Park.

+ Former Lady Mustang named to national team
Lakewood Ranch High graduate Huntyre Elling, who pitches for Indian River State College, was recently named to the National Juco College Athletic Association softball national team.
The team, which is made up of 16 student-athletes from 10 colleges, will compete in the 20th Canadian Open Fastpitch International Competition July 15 through July 21, in Surrey, British Columbia.
Players selected to the team are graduating sophomores and have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA. Elling was named to the FSCAA All-Southern Conference team in 2013 as a freshman.

+ Manatee Cal Ripken All-Stars win state crown
The Manatee Cal Ripken 9U baseball team defeated North Brandon 12-2 to win the Cal Ripken Florida State Championship July 13.

The team went undefeated over the four-day tournament, which began July 10. It outscored its opponents 49-18. Manatee is 17-0 since forming seven weeks ago.

Manatee now advances to the Southeast Regionals July 23, in Palm Beach Gardens.
