+ SLL Junior All-Stars win championship
The Sarasota Little League Junior All-Stars defeated Venice 9-2 to win the District 16 title July 11. Championship players include: Kyle Jones, Anthony Viera, Christian Vandergraaf, Jake Peterman, Raymond Fitzwater, David Russo, Nicholas Thorin, Andrew Martin Jr., Tyler Copeland, William Fitzgerald, Wesley Combs, Jacob Fisher and Benjamin Bogutski. Sarasota will now advance to the Section 6 tournament July 19 and July 20, in De Leon Springs.

+ Junior golfers tee off in Summer Series
After having been rained out each of the past two weeks, 90 golfers hit the green for the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association’s Summer Series event July 14, at IMG Academy Golf & Country Club.

Zhang Yan Wang and Cole Johnson both shot 74 to share co-medalist honors.
