The Manatee County School District has been the messenger of good news over the last month.

After balancing, and creating a $4 million surplus in its budget at the end of the 2013-2014 school year, the district now looks ahead to its 2014-2015 school year financials.

The district's operations department will discuss the additional dollars for school resource officers, staff and employee benefits, among other aspects of the new budget, at a public hearing next week.

From 5:45 to 8 p.m., July 22, at 215 Manatee Ave. W., the School Board and operations staff members will discuss in detail the new budget, with an estimated fund balance of $12. 5 million, according to Superintendent of Operations Don Hall.
