Composer Rob Satori taps Sarasota Music Festival talent

Rob Satori, known around these parts as a wedding entertainer and Unity Church's music director, recently utilized the young orchestral talent in town for Sarasota Music Festival.

Satori featured clarinetist Chung Yoo and violinist Thomas Stuart on a piece he wrote called “Requiem for the Cherubim.” He heard the students play a free community concert at Unity Church during the festival.

“I asked them if they would be interested in recording some parts to the requiem, and to my delight they agreed,” Satori says in a prepared statement.

He originally wrote the composition nearly 20 years ago following the Oklahoma City bombing. Following the events of April 19, 1995 he was overcome by a sadness for the children and families affected. He turned the emotions into music in this composition.

“It was sad and brooding, yet shifted in the middle to become very uplifting and inspirational,” he says.

He rerecorded the piece with more modern technology in addition to these students, but hopes to have it scored for a full orchestra in time for the 20th anniversary. For more information, visit his website robsatori.com or listen to the song by following this link.
