9:48 p.m. — 500 block of Ranger Lane. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman found a box containing a key inside her air-conditioning disconnect box. She said she did not put it there and wondered why the contractor did not mention it when he worked on the system. The woman was not sure whether someone entered her residence.
June 11
Here’s your tip
2:25 p.m. — 1200 block of GMD. Battery. A condo manager tipped a woman out of one of the property’s beach chairs after she used profanities and refused to leave. The manager said he did not touch the woman but called her a “skinny b*tch” when she continued to scream profanities as he walked away. The woman lives at the condo next door and said she uses the section of beach so her husband, who is confined to a wheelchair, can watch her. The woman wanted to prosecute the manager for battery. Police told her that due to the lack of injuries and independent witnesses, they would send a non-arrest complaint to the state attorney’s office.
June 12
The croak of dawn
9:28 a.m. — 2000 block of Harbourside Drive. Animal. A woman heard a noise coming from a drainage ditch that sounded like a dog barking two mornings in a row. Police thought it sounded more like a bullfrog. The water filled almost to the top of the ditch, and police determined no non-aquatic animal could survive overnight in that level of water.
Coming unhinged
12:09 p.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive. Property Damage. A truck driver thought he had enough room to drive through a condo’s gates to make a delivery but accidentally broke off the hinge from the gate post.
Cleared for construction
12:15 p.m. — Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Royal Road. Parking. A caller complained about two vehicles that were being used to pump concrete for a pool. Police found no violations.
No passes
2:25 p.m. — 1000 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A driver didn’t pull over for more than a mile after police tried to initiate a traffic stop for passing in a no-pass zone at a high rate of speed. The man said he would not have passed if conditions had been unsafe and didn’t notice the police lights because he was on his cellphone. He received a citation for illegal passing.

Hotel heist
5:57 p.m. — 2600 block of GMD. Larceny. Two men discovered their iPod and $35 cash missing when they returned to the hotel room their families were sharing. One of their wives later found $130 missing from her purse. The resort manager provided police with a name of all employees who could have had access to the room.
Night-light needed
9:14 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Bicycle. A visitor was riding his bicycle after dark without a light. Police told him thieves have recently targeted the brand of bicycle he was riding on the island and asked the man if they could check the bicycle’s serial number. The bicycle had not been reported as stolen, and the man said he purchased it a few years ago in his home state.

5:54 p.m. — 1000 block of GMD. Property Found. Police retrieved a plastic pool float from the bicycle lane.

Speaker swipe
8:04 a.m. — 4500 block of GMD. Larceny. A woman reported a box with $2,000 speakers was taken from her living room. She said that painters were outside her condo all day, and one was hoisted in the air painting outside her living room window. She told police she is sure she locked the door but has had problems locking it a few times.
June 17
Double take
5:18 a.m. — 5100 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A man called for a cab, then called police because he noticed a suspicious man walking around the complex. He didn’t realize the man was the cabdriver looking for his unit.
No money laundering here
10:43 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Larceny. Motel staffers reported that someone removed the coin box from a washer/dryer. They later called back to report that the washer was broken into at the timer area, not the coin box, and no coins were missing.
Where’s the party?
2:11 p.m. — 3100 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A property manager found six open bottles of liquor and two unopened bottles of wine, along with a broken safe, in a condo utility room. The manager was last in the room a week ago and remembers locking the door. Two condo residents said they had not seen or heard anything suspicious in the last week.
buckle up
2:44 p.m. — Off the Key. Boat. Police told a man with two young sons he was not allowed to ride his Jet Ski within 300 feet of the beach. He received a verbal warning because one of his sons was wearing a life jacket that did not fit well and was not fastened.

8:01 p.m. — 600 block of Birdie Lane. Suspicious Circumstance. A resident reported that unfamiliar individuals were inside a nearby home. The man inside the home said he and his wife are vacationing there, and his brother is the owner.
